How to make a Charcuterie Board

Whether you're hosting a cozy night in or planning a gathering with friends, a well-crafted charcuterie board is the ultimate crowd pleaser. It’s more than just meat and cheese, it's a blend of flavors, textures, and colors that turns simple snacking into a stunning centerpiece. In this post, I’ll walk you through everything you need to build the perfect charcuterie board, from choosing the right ingredients to arranging them like a pro.
Based on our appetizer portion guidelines, we typically plan for about 1oz of meat and 2-2.5oz of cheese per person.
INGREDIENTS:
2-3 types of Charcuterie
2-4 types of Cheese
Red grapes
Strawberries
Raspberries
Olives
Dried apricots
Sage
Jam
(Optional:)
Nuts
Crackers
METHOD:
1. Choose Your Board or Platter
Start with a large cutting board, serving tray, or cheese board. It doesn’t have to be fancy—just something flat and spacious enough to hold all your ingredients.
2. Select a Variety of Cheeses
Aim for 2–4 types, depending on your group size. Include a mix of textures and flavors. Our favorites are Brie, Manchego, White Cheddar, & Aged Gouda
3. Add Cured Meats
Choose 2–3 types, such as: Salami, Prosciutto, or Soppressata
Roll or fold slices for visual appeal and easy grabbing.
4. Add Fresh Seasonal and Dried Fruits
5. Add Olives &/or Pickle
6. Fill with extras
Nuts & Crackers
Spreads (honey or jam)
7. Arrange and Garnish
Start by placing cheeses first, then meats, followed by larger items grapes, olives, or spreads. Fill in gaps with crackers, fruits, and nuts. Garnish with fresh herbs like rosemary or sage.
